Bridal showers are the perfect opportunity for friends of the bride to celebrate upcoming nuptials. It should be fun, exciting and relaxing. Most peeps dunno what to do when it comes to planning a bridal. I planned one recently and below are the rules of engagement when planning a bridal shower;
#1. Enlist help
Planning a bridal shower could be quite a daunting task so you need all the help you can get if you’ve be delegated as the chief organiser. Don’t do everything yourself and never allow the bride to be involved In the planning, assign responsibilities especially to the closest friends of the bride to be.
#2. Have a theme for the bridal shower
There are a million themes that can be used for a bridal shower: colour themes, venue themes, event themes, outfit themes. Be creative in choosing a theme and don’t just copy what you’ve seen on the web. When choosing colours, let the colour theme be different from the wedding colour theme. For outfits, avoid the cliché “bath robes” and seek out something unique and different.
#3. Have a guest list
The guest list should consist majorly of the bride’s friends, most especially those invited to the wedding. Never invite anyone who isnt on the official wedding guest list to avoid confusion.
#4. Plan fun activities
Always have activities lined up for the shower. Activities that will encourage mingling amongst guests and fun games. Also ensure that whatever games are at play, ain’t awkward for the bride like a male stripper. Before planning activities, make sure to ask the bride what she’ll be uncomfortable with.
#5. Plan for refreshments
Have plans for small chops and drinks especially a bridal shower themed cake. No heavy food, just variety of finger foods and cocktails.
#6. Don’t forget gifts
Preferably have a gift theme that guests can follow and adhere to. Avoid naughty gifts like dildo and other sex toys to avoid embarrassing the bride.
