#WCW #4: Mo Abudu

Hi DCB clan, it’s that time of the week where i bring you the DCB woman crush of the week. She’s a topshot media personality described by Forbes magazine as “Africas’s most successful woman. She is also an entrepreneur, a philanthropist, TV producer, and a Nigerian talk show host. She is none other than Mosunmola Abudu also known commonly as Mo Abudu. 

Mo Abudu hails from Ondo state but was born in the UK.  She started off her career in the UK as a recruitment consultant in 1987, becoming a branch manager and later went on to work for the Starform Group, managing the Corporate Credit Management Exhibition from 1990 to 1992. She has also worked at Esso Exploration & Production Nigeria Limited (now ExxonMobil) where she was head of their Human Resources and Training unit. 
Currently Abudu is the Executive Producer & host of the popular TV talk show, Moments with Mo, which is recorded and aired with numerous topics ranging from lifestyle, through health, culture, politics to entertainment and music. She also launched Ebony Life Television, “Africa’s first Global Black Multi-Broadcast Entertainment Network” on 1 July 2013 which currently has over 50 million viewers in over 44 countries. It is currently transmitting to Southern Africa and is channel number 165 on DSTV.
Mo Abudu is also the founder of The Inspire Africa Foundation, a human investment arm of Inspire Africa Ltd focused on raising funds to implement society-transforming initiatives. The Foundation has also opened a charity store branded “The Designers Outlet for Charity”, which opened on 5 December 2009 in Lagos, Nigeria. The foundation is also developing a children’s shelter called “The Harbour”.

In addition, Mo is co-owner of the Protea Hotel, Oakwood Park, Lekki Expressway, Lagos



In recognition of her work in diverse fields especially the media, and her service to humanity, she has been honoured with many laurels. These include recognition by Forbes Media as the first African woman to launch a Pan-Africa TV channel; and Entrepreneur of the Year award by Women Werk in New York. She has also been listed as one of the 25 Most Powerful Women in Global TV by the Hollywood Reporter. Most recently, she was also honoured with a Honorary Doctorate Degree (Honouris Causa) from Babcock University; Nigeria’s premier private university.

She’s also a mother with a son and a daughter.


MO Abudu is known to stun and dazzle on and off the red carpet.  Her style which is conservative and classy is worthy of emulation.  She is rumored to get her dresses after it is launched on the runway.
